Myles Garrett's Ninth Speeding Ticket Sparks NFL Safety Concerns

Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett has been cited for speeding for the ninth time since entering the NFL in 2017, according to court records obtained by ESPN. The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year was clocked at 94 mph in a 70 mph zone on an Ohio interstate last month. Garrett was pulled over at 1:35 a.m. on February 21 in Wooster, Ohio.

This latest citation follows a pattern of traffic violations for the 25-year-old defensive end. Last August, Garrett received a ticket for driving 100 mph in a 60 mph zone in a Cleveland suburb. In 2022, he was cited for "failure to control his motor vehicle" after a single-car crash that left him with shoulder and biceps injuries when his vehicle flipped over.

Garrett's history of speeding violations raises questions about player safety and judgment, particularly given his status as one of the league's most prominent defensive players. The incident occurred during the NFL offseason, when players typically focus on training and preparation for the upcoming season. Garrett has been given a court date but won't need to appear if he pays the fine.
