Jo Adell delivered a career performance for the Cleveland Guardians, driving in six runs and hitting a 455-foot home run, but left Tuesday's 8-1 win over the San Francisco Giants due to a bruised left knee. Adell fouled a pitch off his kneecap in the first inning before launching a three-run homer three pitches later, marking the longest blast of his seven-year career. He also added a two-run single in the second and an RBI base hit in the fourth, becoming the first Cleveland player since Jose Ramirez in 2019 to record six RBIs within the first four innings of a game.

Manager Stephen Vogt praised Adell's impact but confirmed the injury occurred when he fouled the ball off his knee. Adell was receiving treatment postgame and will continue to be evaluated. The outfielder, acquired at the Aug. 3 trade deadline, entered the game batting .167 but showcased the power that prompted Cleveland's move.

Giants manager Tony Vitello credited Adell as the primary issue, noting his two-run single and towering homer that gave Cleveland an early 3-0 lead. The blast surpassed Adell's previous career-long 454-foot shot and was the longest homer at Progressive Field since Salvador Perez's 457-foot drive in 2024.

Adell's injury adds to Cleveland's recent injury woes, with the team going 10-19 since the All-Star break and sitting one game behind Texas for the final AL wild-card spot. Other position players, including Chase De Lauter, are also dealing with injuries.
