Christian Pulisic rejoined AC Milan training on Tuesday for the first time since sustaining a bone bruise and microfracture in his lower leg during the U.S. men's national team's 4-1 World Cup round-of-16 loss to Belgium on July 6.

Pulisic, who twisted his ankle and knee attempting a shot that struck midfielder Youri Tielemans' leg, initially faced a four to six week recovery timeline. The 27-year-old completed part of Tuesday's session under new head coach Ruben Amorim after missing all of Milan's preseason preparations.

Milan opens their Serie A campaign against Torino on Sunday, though Italian reports suggest Pulisic will likely sit out that match. He remains a candidate for the team's home opener against Venezia on August 28.

Pulisic expressed disappointment with his injury-plagued World Cup performance, having dealt with both a calf injury sustained in training before the Paraguay match and the subsequent lower leg issue against Belgium. Despite the setbacks, he played 88 minutes in the round-of-32 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina before the injury against Belgium ended his tournament.
