The Los Angeles Angels have traded outfielder Jo Adell to the Cleveland Guardians for catching prospect Jacob Cozart, according to sources. This move continues a series of player transactions by interim general manager John Mozeliak, who has also dealt away controllable assets like Chase Silseth, Logan O'Hoppe, and Jose Soriano.

Adell, the 10th overall pick in 2017, was a highly touted talent but struggled with consistency in the majors, marked by strikeouts and defensive lapses. Despite a strong 2025 season with 37 home runs, his performance has regressed in the current year. He has a career slash line of .211/.268/.381.

For the Guardians, Adell, still only 27 years old, could become their everyday right fielder. Cozart, selected in the second round of the 2024 draft, was ranked as the Guardians' 18th-best prospect. He is considered a defense-first catcher with a .239/.330/.384 slash line in Double-A.
