CLEVELAND -- Guardians rookie outfielder Chase DeLauter was removed before the third inning of Sunday's game against the San Diego Padres due to mild left hamstring tightness. DeLauter started in right field and popped out to Xander Bogaerts in the first inning but also made a notable catch on a Manny Machado drive near the warning track.

Manager Stephen Vogt stated after Cleveland's 5-0 loss that DeLauter experienced a cramping sensation in his hamstring during his pre-game sprint. The issue didn't improve as the game progressed, leading Vogt to pull him to avoid further risk.

The 24-year-old DeLauter has been Cleveland's most consistent hitter this season, ranking second among AL rookies in RBIs (57), fifth in home runs (13), and eighth in batting average (.286). This month, he's batting .339 (19-for-56) with two homers and six RBIs, recording multiple hits in seven of Cleveland's 14 August games before his 13-game on-base streak ended.

The Guardians are off on Monday before hosting San Francisco for three games starting Tuesday.
