Cleveland placed outfielder Chase DeLauter on the 10‑day injured list after a Saturday collision with the outfield wall fractured his right rib. The injury occurred in a 3‑1 victory over Detroit, leading the club to recall Triple‑A outfielder Kahlil Watson. DeLauter is batting .263 with seven homers in 66 games, four of which came in the season’s first three contests.

The Guardians added José Ramírez and Angel Martínez to the IL. Ramírez underwent surgery to remove a broken hamate hook in his left hand; he is hitting .239 with 10 homers and 33 RBIs and faces a five‑to‑seven‑week recovery. Martínez suffered a nondisplaced left‑foot fracture and could miss four to six weeks, further thinning Cleveland’s lineup.

Watson, a 23‑year‑old 2021 first‑round pick, came from Columbus hitting .255 with a .370 OBP, 12 homers and 15 steals in 56 games, but has not yet debuted in the majors. His call‑up adds a left‑handed bat as Cleveland battles a spate of injuries. The club sits two games behind the AL Central leader, heightening the impact of the lost depth for the team.
