The Cleveland Guardians activated outfielder Angel Martinez and left-handed reliever Tim Herrin from their respective injured lists on Friday. Martinez returns from a 32-game absence due to a fractured left foot, while Herrin is back after a stint with a left elbow contusion.

To clear roster spots, left-hander Will Dion and utility man Daniel Schneemann were optioned to Triple-A Columbus. The Guardians currently trail the AL Central lead by 1½ games.

Martinez, who is hitting .239 with 11 home runs, had a successful rehab assignment. Herrin, with a 3.06 ERA and 27 strikeouts this season, also completed his rehab appearances.
