Jérémy Jacquet marked his Liverpool debut with a goal as Andoni Iraola's side secured a 2-0 preseason victory over Como at Anfield on Sunday.

The 21-year-old, who joined Liverpool this summer in a £60 million ($81 million) transfer from Rennes, had missed previous preseason games due to a minor knee issue but looked sharp in his first appearance, playing 45 minutes alongside captain Virgil van Dijk.

Cody Gakpo opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a close-range finish following a driving run from Jeremie Frimpong. Jacquet then tapped in Gakpo's cross just before halftime, capping a strong first-half performance that also saw Alexander Isak rattle the post and Dominik Szoboszlai fire wide.

Como, fresh from a 1-1 draw with Arsenal, created chances of their own but were kept at bay by Alisson Becker and Van Dijk. Uruguay international Ronald Araújo made his debut in the second half after joining on loan from Barcelona.

Liverpool begins its Premier League campaign away to Newcastle United next Sunday, with the club still pursuing additional signings including PSG winger Bradley Barcola.
