All-Star Selections and Snubs

Rookie Kevin McGonigle of the Detroit Tigers will get to play at home in the All-Star Game, while Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski was scratched from his start and the All-Star Game due to arm fatigue. Athletics slugger Nick Kurtz, slated to start at first base for the American League, was placed on the injured list with a thumb sprain. Shohei Ohtani was also scratched from his start and will miss the All-Star Game due to knee irritation.

Player Injuries and IL Stints

The Seattle Mariners in the second inning on Sunday with a hand injury, though the bullpen managed to secure a win. Orioles third baseman Blaze Alexander after being hit by a pitch. The Arizona Diamondbacks with elbow inflammation, as he is 0-5 with an 8.24 ERA over his last eight starts. The Rangers have again with a shoulder injury, and Jacob de Grom will due to a glute and hip strain. Home Run Derby and Notable Performances

Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber and White Sox rookie Munetaka Murakami were added to the Home Run Derby field. Red Sox slugger Willson Contreras had his suspension, allowing him to participate in the All-Star Game and Home Run Derby. Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe denied a report that he refused to play second base.
