Jake McCarthy’s second leadoff inside‑the‑park home run of the season came in a 3-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Sunday. Despite the Rockies’ 10th homer, the Giants’ Rafael Devers scored the tiebreaking run when catcher Hunter Goodman’s wild throw in the eighth opened the way.

McCarthy’s blast, his first since June 20 against Pittsburgh, was a 415‑foot swing to the right‑center sign that bounced past Jung Hoo Lee. He slid home ahead of a relay from second baseman Luis Arraez, adding to his 10th homer of the year.

The Giants, 36-7 against Colorado in San Francisco since 2021, capitalized on the error and secured a series win. They now stand fourth in the NL West at 41-55. Colorado, 17-34 on the road and 39-59 overall, remains the league’s worst.

McCarthy’s performance places him among a rare group; the last player with two inside‑the‑park homers in a season was Edd Roush in 1929.
