Misiorowski Scratched, Misses All-Star Game

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski was scratched from his Sunday start against the Pittsburgh Pirates due to arm fatigue and will miss Tuesday's All-Star Game in Philadelphia. Manager Pat Murphy made the announcement after the NL Central leaders were swept in a Saturday doubleheader, citing a poor recovery from Misiorowski's last outing and a "clunky" throwing session.

The 24-year-old has been dominant this season, posting a 10-4 record with a 1.62 ERA across 18 starts while striking out 167 batters over 111 innings. He leads all MLB starters with a 100.5 mph average four-seam fastball velocity and has thrown a league-high 670 pitches at 100 mph or higher. Misiorowski was slated to face fellow All-Star Paul Skenes in the series finale.

The Brewers' pitching depth continues to be tested with 12 pitchers currently on the injured list. Left-hander Robert Gasser will take Misiorowski's spot in the rotation. Misiorowski insists he won't need an IL stint and expects to be ready after the All-Star break, calling the decision "the right thing to do" despite the disappointment.

Milwaukee's division lead provides some cushion, but the sheer volume of pitching injuries makes Misiorowski's health critical for a deep postseason run. The extra rest could preserve his electric stuff for October, though the Brewers cannot afford many more rotation disruptions with the trade deadline approaching.
