Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy said the Brewers want to monitor Jacob Misiorowski's workload coming out of the All-Star break. Misiorowski worked just four innings in an 8-3 victory over the New York Mets, his first appearance since pitching seven innings on July 7. The Brewers scratched him from a July 12 start due to arm fatigue.

Misiorowski struck out six while allowing one unearned run. Twenty-six of his 65 pitches reached at least 100 mph, topping out at 104 mph against Juan Soto. Murphy said limiting him wasn't just caution — Misiorowski's delivery and legs weren't right after the long layoff, and his velocity dropped.

The Brewers (63-37) lead the NL Central by six games over the Chicago Cubs. Misiorowski has pitched 115 innings this season after 141 1/3 last year including playoffs. He leads MLB with a 1.57 ERA and 173 strikeouts, and owns a 0.87 ERA over his last 13 starts. The 24-year-old hopes to go longer next time out.
