Mod Revives Multi-GPU Gaming With Dedicated DLSS 5 GPU

Modder Marcelo Guibout has demonstrated a multi-GPU setup using two NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB graphics cards to split rendering and Neural Rendering workloads for DLSS 5. The approach echoes the era of dedicated PhysX cards and SLI configurations. Using the Neural Coprocessor (MGPU Bridge) add-on for ReShade, Guibout tested the configuration in Cyberpunk 2077 and The Blood of Dawnwalker.

The system passes fully rendered frames from the primary GPU to the dedicated Neural Rendering GPU via the PCIe link. The secondary card handles the DLSS 5 Neural Rendering pass before outputting the final frame to the monitor. This frees the primary GPU to focus on raster and ray-tracing tasks.

With the Neural Coprocessor enabled, frame rates improved between 59% and 125% compared to running DLSS 5 on a single GPU. However, performance remained lower than running with DLSS 5 disabled entirely. The ReShade control panel allows tuning of performance and quality parameters for the multi-GPU pipeline.
