Apple's 2026 OLED MacBook Pro Gets Touchscreen with Dynamic Island

Apple is reportedly developing a touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro for late 2026 that will feature the iPhone's Dynamic Island interface and redesigned macOS controls optimized for touch input. According to Bloomberg, the Dynamic Island will replace the current notch design, providing more screen space while offering contextual controls that expand based on the app or feature being used.

This marks a significant shift for Apple, which has long resisted touchscreens on Mac computers despite industry trends. The company is updating macOS to support touch interactions, including tap-based menu controls, pinch-to-zoom gestures, and fast scrolling borrowed from iPad functionality. Users will be able to switch between touch and traditional mouse input seamlessly, with Apple positioning this as an enhancement rather than a touch-first device like the iPad.

The OLED MacBook Pro will come in 14-inch and 16-inch models with M6 Pro and M6 Max chips built on a new 2-nanometer process. Apple plans to refresh the MacBook Pro lineup twice in 2026, with standard models featuring M5 chips launching this spring before the OLED touch-enabled versions arrive toward year's end.
