Apple TV confirmed today that it has picked up Alfonso Cuarón’s Ascension series, marking his second collaboration with the platform. In October 2024, Apple TV premiered *Disclaimer*, also by Cuarón.

Inspired by the novel “Last Days” by Adam Nevill, “Ascension” is a one-hour psychological horror thriller following Rose, a documentary filmmaker and recently divorced mother. She begins a project on a mysterious 20th-century cult known as the Church of Ascension, finding unexpected refuge in its teachings — until she discovers something insidious beneath.

Apple TV notes that in addition to marking its second collaboration with Cuarón, *Ascension* will also be the second project for Apple and star Balfe, who is next set to appear in Apple Original Films’ *Tenzing*. The series will be produced by Anonymous Content, which is also behind the *Neuromancer* series set for Apple TV in January 2027.
