Apple is reportedly planning a major MacBook Pro redesign for late 2026, marking its first chassis overhaul in about five years. The update is expected to bring three key features: a thinner design, an OLED display replacing current mini-LED panels, and the long-rumored addition of a touchscreen for the first time in the Mac's two-decade history.

These changes represent a significant shift in Apple's design philosophy, balancing consumer demand for portability with performance needs. The move to Tandem OLED technology, first introduced on the iPad Pro, promises deeper blacks and more vibrant colors. A slimmer chassis could address long-standing complaints about the bulk of the 16-inch model, while a touchscreen would finally align the Mac with its iOS counterparts.

The redesign is expected to launch around October 2026, potentially alongside the debut of M6 Pro and M6 Max chips built on a 2nm process. While Apple has historically resisted touchscreens on Macs, recent reports suggest this is no longer a barrier.
