Apple is reportedly preparing a major MacBook Pro redesign for late 2026 or 2027, with six significant upgrades rumored. These include an OLED display, touch-screen capabilities, a Dynamic Island camera cutout, M6 Pro/Max chips built on TSMC's 2nm process, a thinner chassis, and built-in cellular connectivity.

The shift to OLED would mark Apple's first use of the technology in a Mac, following its adoption across iPhone, iPad Pro, and Apple Watch lines. A move to 2nm silicon for the M6 series would promise notable gains in performance and efficiency over the current 3nm M4 and upcoming M5 chips.

While the timing remains uncertain, Apple's past update cadence—like the two 2023 refreshes—suggests an M5 Pro/Max debut could come sooner. The entry-level 14-inch model with an M6 chip is not expected to receive all these changes. This redesign would be the first major overhaul since the M1 Pro/Max models launched in 2021.
