X Debuts TikTok‑Style Reaction Video Feature

X launches React with Video, letting users film a reply to any post. The new clip appears beside or over the original, mimicking TikTok’s reaction format. Available only on iOS today, the feature replaces a traditional repost or quote, aiming to make commentary more visceral for users seeking quicker engagement and a new way to express opinions daily.

The move follows X’s recent rollout of custom timelines and a 24‑hour snooze tool, both designed to tame algorithmic noise. Yet the platform has also trimmed long‑standing features, dropping Communities and capping free accounts to 50 posts and 200 replies per day, down from 2,400 posts. Critics argue the limits curb user interaction and stifle creative expression for new users.

X’s spokesperson said the feature will soon reach Android and the web, expanding accessibility. By offering a TikTok‑style format, X seeks to keep users engaged within its own ecosystem, countering the trend of content migration to short‑form platforms. The rollout signals X’s ongoing battle to balance monetization limits with user experience while preserving the platform’s core identity for its community.
