Disney+ Eyes Free Ad sinu

Disney could launch an ad‑supported free tier, according to CEO Josh D'Amaro during the company’s latest earnings call. The move would allow Disney to reach price‑sensitive viewers who are reluctant to pay for a subscription, though no launch date was disclosed.

D'Amaro said the free tier would expand Disney’s reach, boost ad‑revenue growth by providing more inventory, and drive top‑of‑funnel subscriber growth. Unlike Apple TV and Netflix, which lack a fully free offering, competitors such as Tubi, The Roku Channel, and YouTube already provide free content.

Disney currently has roughly 130 million global subscribers, making it one of the most‑watched streaming services in the United States. The company also signed a deal with TikTok, allowing creators to use Disney characters and scenes for short‑form videos that will appear on both TikTok and Disney+’s Verts section.

If rolled out, the free tier could reshape Disney’s streaming strategy and strengthen its competitive position.
