The tool offers features such as overlay captions with customizable looks and multilingual support, alongside a green screen effect for custom backgrounds. This move signals X's aggressive push to compete with video-centric platforms like TikTok.

Nikita Bier, X's head of product, stated that providing creators with tools for original content is a top priority, with more updates planned for the video editor soon. While currently available on iOS, the feature is expected to roll out to the Android app as X rebuilds its Android client.

This editor follows recent updates, including a video reaction function and $1 million in payouts for live streamers. X has also reportedly reduced the visibility of reposted content, pushing users towards original video creation. This strategy not only aims to boost user engagement but also to generate more unique data for AI models like Grok, which trains on public X content.
