iOS 27 and iPad OS 27 Beta 5

Apple seeded the fifth beta of iOS 27 and iPad OS 27 to developers, with the update arriving after a three-week gap. The software introduces redesigned Liquid Glass icons for Siri, Safari, Settings, and more, along with new "Before Searching" settings, as detailed by AppleInsider and MacRumors. Apple has also expanded Siri AI voice customization with pace and expressivity controls. A key new feature under development allows the iPhone to authenticate its camera source for photos. 9to5Mac reports that iPad OS 27 beta 5 and other updates are rolling out now. mac OS Golden Gate and Tahoe Betas

Alongside the iOS updates, Apple provided developers with the fifth beta of macOS Golden Gate (mac OS 27), arriving two weeks after the fourth beta. Apple also released watchOS 27 beta 5 to developers, as well as the fifth betas for tvOS 27 and visionOS 27. Apple Hardware and Manufacturing

A leaked photograph appears to confirm a massive 5,391mAh battery for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Meanwhile, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple is cutting back hardware shipment plans in 2026 due to DRAM shortages, and he disputed the rumor of a $1B Apple chip stockpile at TSMC. Kuo poured water on that speculation. For accessories, the TESSAN AERO 5000 Mag Safe battery features a titanium finish and ultra-thin design, while a third-party case can extend the AirTag 2's battery life to 10 years.
