Apple has rolled out the second developer betas for a suite of its upcoming operating systems, including iOS 27 and iPad OS 27. This latest beta cycle for iOS 27 introduces several refinements and new features, notably enhancing the Messages app with improved RCS support, including inline replies to specific messages in iPhone-to-Android chats. The Photos app also sees an AI-driven "Extend" tool, which can expand images based on inferred content. Furthermore, iOS 27 beta 2 brings updates to the Wallet app with a new "Insights" feature for tracking finances and makes it easier to update Apple TV software remotely through the Home app. Developers are also testing mac OS 27 Golden Gate beta 2 and tv OS 27 beta 2, alongside the second beta for vision OS 27.

A significant shift in iOS 27 is the introduction of a new recovery mode for iPhone and iPad, mirroring the functionality previously found on Macs, allowing devices to boot into a lightweight, alternative operating system for troubleshooting. The beta also includes updates for Air Pods, such as customizable EQ settings and improved precision finding. Notably, advanced AI dictation is not enabled by default in the iOS 27 beta for iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air models. Apple is also preparing to discontinue the Air Port Utility app from the App Store with the release of iOS.

Amazon's annual Prime Day sale has commenced, offering substantial discounts across a wide range of Apple products. Separately, Apple is facing a class-action lawsuit in the UK, accusing the company of overcharging iCloud users.
