Apple’s Wallet ‘Insights’ Feature Unveiled in iOS 27 Beta 2

Apple has added a new Insights feature to the Wallet app in the second iOS 27 beta. Users tap the three dots in the upper right corner to see a splash screen promising spending insights, recurring transactions, and account balances. The interface, however, redirects to Add to Wallet with no new options, leaving functionality unclear.

The splash screen explains that a fully owned subsidiary of Apple connects to financial institutions, fetching and categorizing data for display while keeping user information off‑device. This mirrors the earlier Connected Cards rollout in iOS 17.1, which enjoyed limited adoption and was largely abandoned after Discover removed support.

Current support remains sparse: only the Apple Card offers detailed transaction data, while a handful of UK banks maintain deeper integration. Analysts see Insights as a potential successor to Connected Cards, aiming to work without issuer‑specific tweaks.

In short, the beta offers a promising framework but delivers little today, leaving consumers and developers waiting for a functional rollout before judging its true value.
