The Cincinnati Bengals have signed veteran quarterback Josh Johnson to a one-year contract, adding depth to their roster for the 2026 season. Johnson, 39, has played for a record 14 NFL teams since 2008 and returns to Cincinnati for his third stint with the franchise. This marks his second signing with the Bengals since 2013.

Johnson most recently played for the Washington Commanders, appearing in five games last season. He completed 63% of his passes for 372 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. The veteran quarterback has made 11 career starts and played in 50 NFL contests, bringing valuable experience to Cincinnati's quarterback room.

Cincinnati entered the offseason needing two backup quarterbacks after Joe Flacco remains a free agent and Jake Browning signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Flacco, acquired last season to replace injured starter Joe Burrow, expressed interest in continuing to start elsewhere in 2026. Johnson's signing provides the Bengals with a seasoned backup option as they prepare for the upcoming season.
