The Chicago Bears have signed former Seattle Seahawks defensive back Coby Bryant to a three-year, $40 million contract, sources confirmed to ESPN. The 26-year-old safety brings versatility and proven production after helping Seattle's defense lead the NFL in points allowed last season en route to a Super Bowl victory.

Bryant's journey to this point included winning the 2021 Jim Thorpe Award as college football's top defensive back at Cincinnati, where he played opposite future star Sauce Gardner. Drafted by Seattle in the fourth round of 2022, he transitioned from cornerback to safety in 2024, finishing with three interceptions in 11 starts and a 69-yard touchdown return. His work ethic and competitive nature impressed the Seahawks enough that they offered an extension last summer, but negotiations stalled.

The Bears' investment signals their belief in Bryant's ability to anchor their secondary. After recording four interceptions, seven passes defended, and four tackles for loss in 15 games last season, Bryant proved his value despite missing the final two regular-season games with a knee injury. His return for Seattle's playoff run after the first-round bye demonstrated his durability when healthy.
