Chicago White Sox will retire former player and manager Ozzie Guillén's No. 13 this summer, an honor that brought the 62-year-old to tears during Friday's announcement. Guillén expressed surprise at the recognition, saying "They made me cry for them." The ceremony will take place on August 8, with Guillén's family and owner Jerry Reinsdorf in attendance.

Guillén spent 13 seasons as a player (1985-1997) and eight years as manager for the White Sox, leading them to their first World Series title in 2005. He joins Mark Buehrle and Paul Konerko as the only players from that championship team to have their numbers retired. Guillén's baseball journey with the franchise began when he chose to wear No. 13 because his hero, Davey Concepción, wore it.

The honor marks Guillén as the first manager in White Sox franchise history to receive this distinction. Guillén reflected on what this recognition means, saying "The most important is what the White Sox think about what I did for the organization." The former AL Rookie of the Year (1985), three-time All-Star, and Gold Glove winner (1990) currently serves as a TV host for White Sox games.
