Roch Cholowsky, the No. 1 pick in the amateur draft, has agreed to terms with the Chicago White Sox on a contract that includes a record-breaking $10.35 million signing bonus. This surpasses the previous mark set by Chase Burns and Charlie Condon in 2024.

Cholowsky, a 21-year-old shortstop from UCLA, brings impressive collegiate credentials, having hit .320 with 21 homers and a 1.088 OPS in 60 games this past season. Over three seasons with the Bruins, he batted .329 with 52 homers and 167 RBIs, ranking among the school's career leaders in several offensive categories.

White Sox general manager Chris Getz expressed confidence in Cholowsky, stating the team was most comfortable selecting him at No. 1 regardless of the bonus. Getz highlighted Cholowsky's significant accomplishments and leadership qualities throughout his baseball career as key factors in the White Sox's decision.
