Milwaukee unveiled an enormous tribute to late broadcaster Bob Uecker on Tuesday, dedicating an 80-by-100-foot mural on the Wintrust Financial Center building downtown. The colorful tribute shows Uecker in his trademark plaid blazer alongside his signature and 'Mr. Baseball' nickname, permanently honoring the 54-season Brewers voice who died in January 2025 at age 90.

Uecker's loyalty to Milwaukee defined his legendary career, turning down national opportunities including repeated offers from George Steinbrenner to remain the Brewers' constant presence. His celebrity status from movies, commercials and television never diminished his connection to the team and city. The new mural joins existing tributes at American Family Field, where statues already commemorate his iconic 'Must be in the front row' Miller Lite commercial catchphrase.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy and outfielder Christian Yelich attended the ceremony, sharing stories about Uecker's genuine interest in players regardless of status. Yelich recalled dinners and conversations where Uecker shared tales of working with astronauts, presidents and his Tonight Show appearances. The first 500 attendees received Miller Lite cans for a celebratory toast honoring Uecker's dedication to Milwaukee.

Artist Mauricio Ramirez designed the mural, the same creator behind the 2022 Giannis Antetokounmpo tribute. For Brewers fans, this permanent downtown monument confirms what they always knew: Uecker wasn't just their broadcaster, he was family.
