The Colts have signed veteran WR Keenan Allen to a one‑year deal, bolstering a thin receiving corps after trading Michael Pittman Jr. and losing No. 1 receiver Alec Pierce to injury.

Allen, 34‑year old and former Charger, returned to the NFL after a brief stint with the Chargers last season, recording 81 catches. The contract is worth up to $8.32 million. He will rejoin head coach Shane Steichen, who previously served as the Chargers’ offensive coordinator and has a history with Allen.

Allen’s 2025 totals were 81 receptions for 777 yards and four TDs. He ranks 13th in career receptions (1,055) and is a six‑time Pro Bowler. The Colts expect him to handle short and intermediate routes as slot receiver Josh Downs takes more downfield routes.

Allen’s tenure at the Chargers spanned 11 seasons before a trade to the Bears in 2024, then a return to Los Angeles. He was Justin Herbert’s favorite third‑down target, earning the moniker “third‑and‑Keenan.” Indianapolis hopes his experience will add depth to an offense that already has multiple layers from his former team.
