San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman, who had 7 home runs and 42 RBIs in 84 games, will undergo season-ending abdominal surgery Tuesday in Philadelphia. Cincinnati Reds right-hander Hunter Greene, after a second opinion, will have season-ending elbow surgery for a partially torn UCL and is expected to miss at least the 2026 season. The Texas Rangers placed Nathan Eovaldi on the 15-day injured list with elbow inflammation. The Philadelphia Phillies put reliever Caleb Kilian on the 15-day IL because of a left oblique strain. New York Mets reliever Devin Williams landed on the 15-day IL with a right shoulder strain, though interim manager Andy Green does not believe it will be a long-term stint. The Tampa Bay Rays placed Griffin Jax on the IL with right elbow discomfort. Miami Marlins first baseman Kyle Stowers left Sunday’s win early with a left hamstring injury and will undergo further evaluation. Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jameson Taillon exited his first home start after four scoreless innings Monday because of right forearm discomfort and will have an MRI.
