Texas Rangers right‑hander Nathan Eovaldi was placed on the 15‑day IL on Monday after inflammation in his pitching elbow. The move came before the club opened a road series against the Los Angeles Angels. Rookie right‑hander Ben Peoples was recalled from Triple‑A Round Rock to fill the roster spot.

Eovaldi’s 10‑9 record and 132 2/3 innings led the team in wins and work. The 36‑year‑old has appeared in every game this season, missing only a May start because of left‑side tightness. In his most recent outing Friday night, he held Baltimore to one run and four hits over 5 1/3 innings, exiting after 86 pitches. Since joining the Rangers in 2023, he’s gone 45‑25 with a 3.38 ERA in 98 starts.

Last season he was 11‑3 with a career‑best 1.73 ERA, but an IL stint for elbow inflammation ended his year early when a rotator cuff strain kept him out. Peoples had a 0‑1 record and a cracking 2.19 ERA in 12 relief appearances from July 2 until he was optioned back to Triple‑A on Saturday.
