The New York Mets placed reliever Devin Williams on the 15-day IL with a right shoulder strain Monday, retroactive to Aug. 8. Interim manager Andy Green said he does not believe it will be a long-term stint. "He's been dealing with a little bit of shoulder fatigue for a little while now," Green said. "[It was] something he was confident he could work through."

Williams (3-2, 4.66 ERA), an All-Star with Milwaukee in 2022 and 2023, has 16 saves and three blown saves this season. He last pitched Friday against the Pirates, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk in one inning. RHP Jonathan Pintaro was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to take his spot.
