Apple's new Studio Display XDR now supports DICOM medical imaging presets and a Medical Imaging Calibrator, making it suitable for diagnostic radiology work. Radiologists can view medical images directly on the display without needing dedicated medical imaging monitors. The display includes a mode switching option for transitioning between standard and radiology viewing modes.

Priced at $3,299, the Studio Display XDR is more affordable than many specialized medical imaging monitors. Apple says its Medical Imaging Calibrator is pending FDA clearance and should soon be available in the United States. The company aims to improve healthcare technology and boost patient care through this functionality.

The Studio Display XDR features a mini-LED backlight with 2,304 local dimming zones, 2000 nits of peak HDR brightness, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Pre-orders begin on March 4 at 9:15 a.m. Eastern Time, with a launch following on March 11.
