X is rolling out Starterpacks to all users in the coming weeks, the company's head of product announced. These are curated collections of accounts for new users to follow based on their interests. The feature is a direct clone of Bluesky's 2024 tool, which also calls its user-made lists "starter packs" and allows sharing via QR code.

Unlike Bluesky, where ordinary users can create their own packs, X is taking a top-down approach. Head of product Nikita Bier said the company "scoured the world for the top posters in every niche and country" to compile these lists. The goal is to help newcomers find relevant accounts more easily, a common challenge for growing social networks.

This move follows a trend of platforms adopting Bluesky's feature. Threads launched its own version in late 2024, inserting profile collections into new users' feeds. Mastodon followed in 2025 with a more user-controlled option. X's centralized curation aims to streamline onboarding, but it limits the community-driven discovery that defines Bluesky's approach.
