The mid-range and flagship phone market is heating up ahead of May's major launch window. Honor unveiled its Honor Pad 20 alongside its 600 series in China, packing a 12.1-inch LCD IPS display and a 10,100mAh battery into a new tablet entry. The Honor 600 lineup itself arrived in China with a Dimensity 7100 chipset and a 6,520mAh cell on the 600e, while the Honor 600 and 600 Pro models that launched globally earlier carry even larger batteries. Oppo countered with the Reno16 Pro and vanilla Reno16, both featuring a 200MP main rear sensor in a triple-camera setup, and paired that with the Pad 6 tablet, which ships a 12.1-inch 3000x2120 LCD at 144Hz refresh and a 10,420mAh battery powered by the Dimensity 9500s. Infinix joined the fray with the Hot 70, offering a 6.78-inch display, a 6,000mAh battery, and a thermo paint finish, though the Pro and Pro+ variants remain unannounced. Over in the upper tier, Xiaomi confirmed the rear designs of the 17T and 17T Pro ahead of their May 28 launch, revealing 200MP main cameras with telephoto magnification capabilities; the 17T Pro will skip the secondary display found on the Pro Max but adds a larger 8,000mAh Si-C battery. vivo's pipeline is also filling out: the S60 will debut on May 29 with specs tipped by Weibo leakers, and the Y600 Turbo just went official with a 9,020mAh battery, following last month's Y600 Pro which carried a 10,200mAh cell. Oppo's A6c meanwhile landed in India with its global debut pricing, having rolled out in China and Thailand with minor spec tweaks earlier this year.

Samsung Ecosystem Updates

Samsung continued its domestic rollout of One UI 8.5 across multiple device tiers. The Galaxy A26 received the update this week, joining the Galaxy S26 family which debuted the software back in January, while the Galaxy Tab S10 FE and FE+ also got the stable build, and the rollout for the Galaxy S23 FE began in India. In the rumor mill, the Galaxy S26 FE has been spotted inside third-party cases carrying an Exynos 2500 SoC and 8GB of RAM, hinting at a mid-cycle refresh aimed at price-sensitive buyers. Samsung's foldable ambitions are expanding: the Galaxy Z Fold 8 leaked with an "Ultra" variant in the mix, and a new Galaxy Z Rollable patent resurfaced featuring a rollable display concept. Meanwhile, Verizon is offering the Motorola Razr (2026) free with a $100 gift card just days after its May 21 launch, part of a broader wave of carrier promotions that also saw the One Plus 15R bundled with a free OnePlus Watch 3 and the Galaxy S26 Ultra discounted by $250.
