Samsung Adds Digital Passport to Galaxy Wallet

Samsung now lets Galaxy users store passports in Samsung Wallet, enabling digital ID checks at most U.S. TSA checkpoints. The move follows Google Wallet’s earlier feature, but Samsung backs it with Knox security and a CLEAR face‑verification step. Users add the ID by scanning their passport and completing the on‑screen prompts for travel security solutions.

To set up, open Samsung Wallet on a Galaxy running Android 9+, tap Quick Access, then the plus icon, choose Digital IDs, select Samsung ID with CLEAR, and hit Get card. Verification requires a passport scan and facial confirmation via CLEAR’s servers, after which the digital passport is locked inside Knox for secure identity verification at airports daily.

Samsung says Digital ID with CLEAR works at over 250 U.S. airports and some sports venues like Los Angeles’s BMO Stadium. The feature still rolls out in phases, so not every Galaxy model has it yet. Travelers must keep a physical passport for international flights, as the digital ID only covers domestic TSA checkpoints today.

Adding a passport to Samsung Wallet turns the phone into a travel companion, reducing paper clutter at checkpoints. With Knox protection and biometric locks, the digital ID offers security comparable to physical documents. For users who already own a compatible Galaxy, the new feature rounds out Samsung Wallet’s growing suite of stored credentials, making the ecosystem a compelling travel solution.
