Activision has officially revealed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, marking the franchise's return to Nintendo platforms for the first time since 2013. The latest mainline entry in Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare sub-series will launch on October 23 across Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PC and the upcoming Switch 2, representing a significant shift in the series' platform strategy.

Infinity Ward is developing the native Switch 2 version in partnership with mobile studio Digital Legends. The game won't be coming to PS4 or Xbox One, making it the first current-gen-only CoD of this generation. The single-player campaign follows Private Park, a South Korean soldier during an invasion, while multiplayer promises enhanced gunplay mechanics and fluid movement systems.

Multiplayer will launch with 12 core maps, returning modes like Search and Destroy and Domination, plus new gameplay options. The title won't be available on Game Pass at launch, following recent subscription price drops. This strategic decision suggests Activision is prioritizing direct sales for the first major CoD release under Microsoft's ownership.
