007 First Light Switch 2 Delay: Bond Game Hits Other Platforms May 27

Nintendo Switch 2 players will have to wait until later this summer for 007 First Light, IO Interactive's take on a young James Bond. While the game remains on track for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on May 27, the Switch 2 version joins a growing list of titles struggling with the console's hardware.

This marks the second delay for the game, which was originally slated for March. IO Interactive apologized for the Switch 2 setback, promising the best possible experience across all platforms. The delay follows other Switch 2 porting challenges, including Gearbox shelving Borderlands 4 and Elden Ring being pushed to sometime in 2026 after performance issues at Gamescom 2025.

The Switch 2's architecture has proven difficult for developers to optimize, particularly for demanding titles. While Sony announced a limited-edition 007 First Light DualSense controller for other platforms, Switch 2 owners will have to wait longer to experience Bond's reimagined origin story. IO Interactive's Hitman pedigree suggests the delay aims to ensure quality, but it highlights the ongoing challenges third-party developers face with Nintendo's hybrid console.
