Take‑Two says Borderlands 4 on Switch 2 possible but PC focus first

2K Games recently halted work on a Nintendo Switch 2 port of *Borderlands 4*, saying the studio will first deliver post‑launch content and polish the PC build. In an interview with Game File, Take‑Two chief Strauss Zelnick confirmed the Switch 2 isn’t a primary target, emphasizing that the game’s core experience will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox first, and that engineers can tighten frame timing on PC.

Zelnick added that a Borderlands 4 build can technically run on the Switch 2, but performance will lag behind the Steam Deck and other handhelds with more horsepower. A recent PC patch claimed a 20 % speed boost at high resolutions and up to 40 % gains at 1080p on minimum specs, suggesting the engine still needs work before a handheld release. This gap highlights handheld limitations.

For Nintendo fans, the delay means waiting longer while 2K refines the title on more powerful platforms. The company’s stance reflects a broader industry trend of prioritizing performance‑heavy releases on current‑gen consoles before tackling less capable hardware. Until those optimizations land, *Borderlands 4* will remain absent from the Switch 2 lineup for the foreseeable future.
