Aston Villa and Manchester United will clash in the Women’s World Sevens, hosted at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium from 28‑30 May. The tournament marks the first time England stages the event, following 2025 editions in Portugal and the United States. Villa enters as a debutant while United competes again in a high‑profile showcase for fans today.

The eight‑team field includes six other Women’s Super League clubs yet to be named. Prize money falls to $1.5 million (£1.1 million), a drop from last year’s $5 million pool. Winners take $500,000 (£372,000), runners‑up $250,000 (£186,000), with 50 % of top‑four payouts earmarked for players and staff to reward performance and support club growth across the league today.

Three‑quarter‑length, 15‑minute halves and rolling substitutes create a fast‑paced, 7‑a‑side spectacle. Teams play 3‑5 matches on half‑size pitches, then top two from each group advance to semi‑finals, followed by a third‑place match and final. Live DJ sets, smoke cannons and free merchandise add festival flair for fans, boosting attendance and media coverage.

Broadcast on DAZN, the event follows Brentford’s history of hosting marquee women’s fixtures, including Euro 2022 and the 2026 Champions Cup. Organisers aim to stage up to three World Sevens tournaments a year worldwide, using the format to showcase skill, creativity and the growing popularity of women’s football across clubs, players and fans worldwide for the next decade of competitive football growth and global fan engagement today.
