Manchester City begin their Women's Super League title defence against newly-promoted Birmingham City after London City Lionesses open the 2026/27 season against Manchester United on Friday September 4, live on Sky Sports. The league has expanded from 12 to 14 teams following promotions for Birmingham City, Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic.

Sky Sports will broadcast 90 per cent of all WSL matches – 163 games total – across Sky Sports and NOW, with selected matches on the Sky Sports WSL YouTube channel. London City, who signed two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas this summer, launch the campaign before champions Man City host Birmingham on a bumper Sunday September 6 featuring five live games.

Other opening fixtures see Arsenal travel to Brighton, Tottenham host West Ham in a London derby, Liverpool visit Charlton, and Crystal Palace face Everton. Eight-time winners Chelsea host Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday September 5. Key early clashes include Man Utd hosting Chelsea on September 13 and visiting Arsenal on September 19.

The first Merseyside derby sees Everton travel to Anfield on September 27. Relegation remains with the bottom team automatically relegated and 13th place facing a play-off. Key dates include a winter break December 21-January 3, final weekend May 22/23, and the play-off May 29/30.
