The inaugural English edition of the women's World Sevens kicks off Thursday, May 28, at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium. Eight WSL and WSL2 clubs—Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Everton, London City Lionesses, West Ham and newly‑relegated Leicester—will compete over three days. All matches stream live on Sky Sports and the NOW platform, with extra coverage on the SkySports app and a dedicated WSL YouTube channel.

World Sevens condenses traditional football into 30‑minute, seven‑a‑side games on a half‑size pitch, eliminating offside and allowing unlimited rolling substitutions. Two 15‑minute halves are separated by a five‑minute break, with extra time for draws. This fast‑paced format follows previous editions in Estoril, Portugal—won by Bayern Munich—and Fort Lauderdale, USA—won by San Diego Wave—highlighting the tournament’s growing international appeal.

Thursday’s opener saw Chelsea edge Everton 4‑3 after extra time, setting a high‑scoring tone. Manchester United, Tottenham and Aston Villa each host two matches before the Saturday semifinals, where group winners meet opposite‑group runners‑up at 11 am and 12 pm. The final at 2.30 pm will crown the first English champion, offering clubs a chance to showcase depth ahead of the regular WSL season.
