Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack has confirmed that Sandro Schwarz, the former Mainz, Hertha Berlin, Dinamo Moscow and New York Red Bulls manager, is in the city for discussions about the vacant position. The 47-year-old German coach is visiting through to the Celtic game to evaluate the club and be evaluated in return.

Cormack emphasized that Schwarz is one of several candidates on their shortlist, which has been narrowed from about four potential managers. The chairman noted that many coaches prefer to start in the summer to have a full pre-season for implementing their methodology. He stressed the importance of confidentiality regarding other candidates, as some have personal circumstances that must be respected.

When asked about the timeline for an appointment, Cormack was noncommittal, saying it would be determined based on fit rather than speed. He expressed frustration about Aberdeen's managerial turnover, noting this would be his sixth permanent appointment while some Premiership clubs have gone through seven, eight or nine managers. With the average tenure at 1.2 years, Cormack vowed to take whatever time necessary to secure the right manager for the club.
