Ezri Konsa has completed his £55m move to Arsenal from Aston Villa, signing a four-year contract with an optional extra year. The 28-year-old England international expressed pride at joining "one of the best teams in the world" and cited conversations with Arsenal's Three Lions teammates during the World Cup as influential in his decision.

Konsa made 286 appearances for Villa since 2019, helping them win the Europa League in May 2025. He played in every England game during their World Cup campaign, which ended with a semi-final loss to Argentina followed by a bronze medal victory over France.

Arsenal's sporting director Andrea Berta praised Konsa's "athleticism, composure and tactical intelligence," noting his versatility across central defence and right-back. The Gunners have already spent over £100m this summer, including Bruno Guimaraes (£75m) and Christos Tzolis (£34m).

Konsa's departure adds to Villa's high-profile exits this summer, including Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers (£117m to Chelsea), and Lucas Digne. Financial constraints from Uefa's squad cost ratio regulations have forced Villa to adopt a selling approach, having been fined £19.4m by European football's governing body in June 2025.
