Martin O'Neill enjoyed a stroll in the park as Celtic demolished Hearts 7-1 at Celtic Park. Despite Hearts outshooting and outpassing their hosts, their comical defending gifted Celtic a barrage of goals. Benjamin Nygren, Callum Osmand, Camilo Duran, and Haissem Hassan starred in a devastating display.
The home side led early through Liam Scales and Kieran Tierney, with Nygren adding a third before halftime. Hearts briefly rallied but Colby Donovan's crucial tackles snuffed out Josh McPake's threat. Errors from Sabri Guendouz and Jamie McCart gifted Osmand two more goals, while Mika Baur made it five.
Hearts' psychological collapse saw fans flee the stadium as their defense crumbled. Coach Wouter Vrancken later lamented individual errors but refused to take responsibility for his team's setup.
