French side Pau secured a 41-17 victory over Leicester Tigers in their Investec Champions Cup Pool One opener, earning a crucial bonus point. Portugal international Rodrigo Marta scored two tries, including a spectacular 30-metre run after the break, while Pau's quality shone through with five tries in total. Leicester showed early promise with tactical kicking, and captain Ollie Chessum scored their first try after returning from injury.
However, Pau dominated the second half with three unanswered tries. The French club's trio of Theo Attissogbe, Aaron Grandidier Nkanang and Fabien Brau-Boirie completed the scoring. Leicester now face tough matches against Clermont Auvergne, Glasgow Warriors and Leinster.
