Liverpool have had an improved bid of £60m for winger Yankuba Minteh rejected by Brighton, with talks continuing as the Seagulls seek closer to £70m for the 22-year-old Gambia international. The move follows Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola's admission that his side lack sufficient wingers for the season's start, though he remains confident a solution will be found before the transfer window closes.

Liverpool's initial £50m offer was also rejected earlier this week. Minteh, who joined Brighton from Newcastle for £30m in 2024, has scored 10 goals and provided nine assists in 73 appearances. The Reds have also shown interest in Paris St-Germain's Ibrahim Mbaye, while Bradley Barcola remains their main target in the wide attacking areas.

Since replacing Arne Slot as head coach, Iraola has signed Victor Munoz for £34.5m and Ronald Araujo on loan from Barcelona. Outgoings include Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Ibrahima Konate, with Curtis Jones nearing a £30m move to Inter Milan. "We will definitely sign some players," Iraola stated, acknowledging the squad remains thin and certain situations are clear, particularly in the wing positions.
