Eight-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt has registered to play for Wythenshawe Vets FC in the Cheshire Veterans Football League. The 40-year-old Jamaican sprinter is now listed on the Football Association's Full-Time website as a player for the Premier Division side based in south Manchester.

Wythenshawe Vets attracted attention last year for assembling a squad featuring former Premier League stars including Emile Heskey, Oumar Niasse, Antonio Valencia, Papiss Cisse, Stephen Ireland, Nedum Onuoha, Joleon Lescott, and Danny Drinkwater.

Bolt, the fastest man in history over 100m and 200m, set world records at the 2009 Athletics World Championships. After retiring from athletics in 2017, he pursued professional football, scoring twice for Australia's Central Coast Mariners in 2018 before leaving eight weeks later.

Wythenshawe has not officially announced Bolt's registration and has been contacted for comment.
