Google Wallet is a convenient app for storing payment cards, tickets and digital IDs, but it doesn't always work seamlessly. Common issues can stem from your phone settings, bank, or phone provider.

If your phone won't make contactless payments, open Google Wallet, tap your profile picture, and select Payment Setup to resolve outstanding issues. You'll also need to enable NFC in your phone's settings. On a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, it's listed under Connections > NFC and contactless payments.

When tapping to pay, hold your phone's back against the reader for a few seconds rather than waving it quickly. Thick cases, metal cases, and those with card slots can block payments. Remove your case if payments fail.

If your bank card won't add or finish verifying, check with your bank or card provider first. Not all banks support Google Wallet, and your card must be eligible. Even eligible cards may require additional verification from your bank. You can check your card's eligibility online, but your bank may need to complete the setup process on their end.
