Red Bull's first double podium in nearly two-and-a-half years at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix came after fixing Max Verstappen's ill-behaving internal combustion engine that left him eighth on the grid in qualifying. Team boss Laurent Mekies credited the Red Bull-Ford power unit as key, noting it has the strongest engine on the grid but requires careful energy management within a narrow performance band. Both Verstappen and Isack Hadjar demonstrated the car's prowess in Baku, finishing second and third respectively, with Red Bull's power unit enabling strong straight-line speed on Baku's straights.

The team also highlighted that upgrades and chassis improvements had closed the gap to Mercedes, who are set to deliver a major update package at the Bahrain GP. Mekies acknowledged Verstappen's qualifying issues cost them a potential victory but remained optimistic about the team's ability to remain competitive despite not having major updates before the season's end.
